City of Rock Valley and Sioux County Emergency Management Meet to Address Potential Flooding Threat
Rock Valley, IA - June 21, 2024 — Today, the City of Rock Valley officials, in collaboration with Sioux County Emergency Management, the National Weather Service, and the United States Geological Survey (USGS), convened meetings at noon and 4 PM to discuss the imminent threat of flooding to the Rock River in Rock Valley.
Continuous monitoring of the Rock River and local weather forecasts remains a top priority for Rock Valley officials. As part of the ongoing mitigation efforts, volunteers are being mobilized to fill and place sandbags in designated areas. These efforts are crucial to protect the community from potential flood damage.
Volunteers willing to assist are requested to check in with city officials at the City Shop (1215 10th Ave) or Winterfield Pond to ensure a coordinated and effective response. The city appreciates the community's support and cooperation during this critical time.
