City of Rock Valley 2023 Recap

Lots of positive growth happened in Rock Valley in 2023. We're proud to see that projects that our community has completed and excited to see continued growth in 2024.
Rock Valley created a strategic plan in 2023 and had a variety of projects and goals to work on according to this plan. In 2023, a few projects came to completion, including two big projects - the community pool and shelter house. Other projects included starting on the city park, a new boat ramp at Winterfeld Pond and continuing to improve and expand the trail system.
The city also took on a water system project this year, which included a new well, increased daily outputs, and lower nitrate levels which will help the growing need of our community.
Rock Valley Economic Development continued to encourage growth in our community. A few things that they worked on this year are downtown facade grants for businesses, start up spaces, and new housing opportunities.
The Rock Valley Recreation program continues to thrive in Rock Valley. In 2023, over 800 games were played at the Sports Complex. Spring soccer had 232 participants and fall flag football had 141 participants from 6 different communities. The summer rec programs are always popular and had over 250 participants in over 550 different activities. Rock Valley Rec is also excited to have a new disc golf course in Rock Valley, which has seen lots of use!
Rivers Bend Campground is always a popular spot in Rock Valley and brings lots of guests to town. They had visitors from over 30 states this year, and some campers from Canada. Out of the 15 weekends this summer, the campground was sold 13 of them. They sold over 2,250 vehicle passes this year and over 3000+ people visited the Christmas light display, Lights Around the Bend!
The Rock Valley Chamber of Commerce had a great year, with 91 members. They had 70 returning members, and 20 new businesses that joined in 2023. They hosted over 50 events that helped support our community. They continue to support our local businesses and celebrate our community.
At the 5th Annual Business Gala, Rock Valley presented three awards, the Economic Support Award, Chamber Business of the Year Award, and Citizen of the Year Award. These awards went to Debi Durham, Peoples Bank, and Bonnie De Ruyter.
We are excited to see the growth in our community and we are looking forward to 2024!
