Update on SWIFT Current & Hazard Mitigation Home Buyout Programs

We want to provide a difficult but necessary update regarding the status of the Swift Current and Hazard Mitigation Grant Program applications submitted by the City of Rock Valley.

At this time, we still do not have an expected approval date from FEMA. We know this uncertainty is incredibly hard for those affected, and we deeply understand and acknowledge the frustration, pain, and ongoing hardship this delay continues to cause.

The good news is that funding for our applications remains favorable. However, the bureaucratic processes are moving very slowly.

To help move this forward, a contingent from the City of Rock Valley will be traveling to Washington, D.C. to meet directly with FEMA officials. Our goal is to highlight the urgency of these applications and do everything we can to speed up the review and approval process.

We share in your disappointment. The City remains fully committed to advocating for our residents and will continue to push at every level to get the answers and support our community needs. We’ll share any new information as soon as it becomes available.

Please reach out to City Office if you have questions. We're here to support you.

Update as of 9/24/2025:

The City had a very productive meeting with FEMA and we believe that they understand our urgency in getting the home buyout programs approved so we can help our citizens.  Ultimately, we would have really liked to have received a timeline at the meeting, but we are continuing our conversations so that our applications will be approved as soon as possible.
