City Water Update

Flood 2024

Water Service is now available South of Hwy 18.

North of Hwy 18 - we have not passed all tests yet to put the water back on, please stay tuned when that happens and instructions!

The City Rock Valley has partnered with Rock Valley Rural Water to restore water service south of US HWY 18. The City of Rock Valley is asking customers to boil their water and conserve as much as possible. Only use water on a limited basis.

If the City of Rock Valley water system is overused, the sanitary sewer system will be over capacity and flood your neighbors’ homes and basements, which will warrant the water system being shut off.

ALLOWED USES: brushing teeth, face & hand washing, less than 3-minute showers, hand washed dishes.

NOT ALLOWED: CLOTHES WASHING, LAWN IRRIGATION, CAR WASHING, DEEP CLEANING. LONG SHOWERS AND BATHS. IT IS RECOMMENDED NOT TO DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST.

Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water. The water may be used for bathing and other similar purposes.

For more information, please contact city at 712-476-5707. General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1(800) 426-4791.
