Summer Rec

For more information, go to the Rock Valley Chamber website.

Rock Valley Summer Recreation was created in the 1950s and managed by volunteers to provide organized recreational opportunities for children from the age of six to fourteen.  Over the years the Summer Recreation program continued to grow where they were offering baseball, softball, golf, dance, arts and crafts.

Due to the increasing growth of the Summer Recreation, their board requested that the City incorporate this program under the City’s operations.  This officially took place in 2008.

Since the City took over the operation, they changed the name to Rock Valley Recreation Department and they have added basketball, volleyball, flag football, and soccer to the activities provided to the community. The goal of the program is to provide opportunities for youth to experience, play and learn from.

These sneakers. They have been through a wonderful year. Every year, with rain and tournaments to mixed activities and outdoors, summer Rec ultimately claims a pair of sneakers.
These were great sneakers that could tell some incredible stories- from losing bets at basketball to falling down being chased at coach pitch. As these sneakers make their last trip tomorrow it will with feet grateful for the support and a happy to have served.
